College of Agriculture is the first college of the University that was established in 12th February, 1977. The college at present encompasses several departments covering disciplines like; Agronomy, Genetics & Plant Breeding, Soil Science, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Crop Physiology, Agricultural Economics, Extension Education, Agro-Meteorology, Agricultural Biochemistry and Agricultural Statistics. The college is built in an estate spread over nearly 400 ha. The main building consists of four wings housing having various departments and six lecture theatres and one auditorium. An additional campus at Azamgarh has been started on 4th August 2018 with the gracious presence of Agriculture Minister Sri Surya Pratap Shahiji.
The college admits on an average 132 students every year for the under-graduate, 192 students for the post-graduate and 70 for Ph.D. programmes in different disciplines through UPCATET examination which is rotation wise conducted by four Agricultural Universities of UP. We also entertain ICAR and foreign candidates. This year (2018-2019) two foreign students admitted in this college in Master's degree in Agricultural Extension Education.
The Academic Council for Agriculture is responsible for review and modification of the curricula and syllabi periodically. Fifth Dean's committee recommendations have been adopted from July, 2016. The Dean, Faculty of Agriculture is the Chairman and the faculty upto the rank of Assistant Professor and equivalent constitute the members of the Board. Revision of the syllabus and introduction of new courses in the frontier areas based on the emerging needs nationally and globally are done periodically.
In 2017-18, 120 students in B.Sc (Ag), 130 students in Master's Degree and 25 students in Ph.D. were admitted. Number of passed out students were 110 in B.Sc, 108 in M.Sc. and 18 in Ph.D. In 2018-19, a total of 263 students consisting of 115 in B.Sc., 125 in M.Sc. and 23 in Ph.D. have taken admission in the Main campus.

RAWE (Rural Agricultural Work Experience) is a key component in the undergraduate programme. Six months RAWE programme has been started from July, 2017. The students are given rigorous orientation and familiarization programmes on various issues and problems at the farmer's field. The students are placed in different villages in a group of 4 students. The teachers of different subjects are involved to improve their learning capacity in a typical village situation.
College of agriculture also has a privilege of having a centre of Advanced Faculty Training in Plant Physiology financed by the UNDP and ICAR, New Delhi. It is the only centre of its kind in India in Plant Physiology. This centre has been designed as Centre of Excellence in stress Physiology. The Craford Foundation, Australia has also designated this centre as the training centre for International Scientists in Submergence Tolerance Physiology.
The computer centre established in the college provides computer facilities to the UG, PG and Ph.D. students. Computer centre is attached with Internet System to enable students to explore vast reservoir of scientific data.
Students at different levels (B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D.) are getting absorbed regularly in public and private sectors. There is placement cell. In 2015- 16, 140 students selected in Tech Asstt. AG Department in UP and in 2016-17, seven students selected as Assistant Professor /SMS. Recently Dayal fertilizers visited to our campus (figure below) and absorbed some students at B.Sc. and M.Sc. level.
